Terms & Conditions
Effective date: April 1st, 2026.
These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings and services provided by Gordys Grooming & Auto Detailing (“Gordys Grooming”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By booking a service or leaving a vehicle with us, you agree to these Terms.
1) Bookings
• Bookings are essential to ensure enough time is allocated to complete the requested service.
• Your booking may be confirmed by message/phone/email. Please ensure your contact details are correct.
• We reserve the right to decline, reschedule, or stop a service if the vehicle condition is materially different from what was described at booking, or if safety issues arise.
• Please note, we may also decline jobs, as some vehicles may be too high to fit in our grooming shed. (Such as VW Crafters or large utes/trucks, like Silverados, Rams, etc)
2) Customer Responsibilites (Before Drop-Off)
To streamline the grooming process, we ask that you:
• Remove all personal belongings from the vehicle before the service begins (including valuables, jewellery, cash, electronics, child car seats, and loose items).
• Disclose any pre-existing issues, damage, or important information about the vehicle at the time of booking or drop-off (e.g., paint defects, interior tears, electrical faults, warning lights, leaks, non-standard finishes, ceramic coatings, sensitive trim, aftermarket accessories).
Important: Gordy’s Grooming is not responsible for prior damage or vehicle issues not disclosed by the customer.
3) Services and Timeframes
• Service times are estimates only and are based on the requested work and the condition of the vehicle.
• While we take the greatest possible care and detail, some results depend on the vehicle’s condition and materials. Not all stains, odours, scratches, pet hair or defects can be fully removed.
4) Pricing, Quotes and Variations
• All services and prices are clearly labelled in our brochure and on our website.
• Prices may change over time and may vary depending on the size and condition of the vehicle.
• Any quote provided is based on the information available at the time and may be adjusted if the vehicle condition requires additional work.
• Extra charges may apply where there is excess mud, sand, pet hair, heavy soiling, biohazards, mould, or other conditions identified during the initial vehicle inspection. We will advise you where possible before proceeding.
5) Payments
• Payment is due at the time of the chosen service, or at the end of the service upon completion (as agreed/required).
• If payment is not made at completion, payment must be made no later than 7 days after completion.
• We currently accept cash/bank deposit and QR code payment via the HNRY accounting APP. You are welcome to ask if additional payment methods have been introduced.
• Vehicles may be withheld until payment is received (where legally permitted).
6) Cancellations and Charges
• If you wish to cancel or shift your booking, please provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
• Where insufficient notice is given, we may charge a cancellation fee or require a deposit for future bookings (especially for longer services).
7) Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off Services (If Offered)
• Vehicle pick-up and drop-off is limited to the Palmerston North area and is provided at the discretion of Gordy’s Grooming.
• Availability, timing, and any associated fees will be confirmed when booking.
• If you authorise us to drive your vehicle, you confirm the vehicle is legal, roadworthy, and insured (or you accept responsibility for any insurance limitations).
• We are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, road conditions, or events outside our control.
8) Risk, Damage and Liability
• We take care while working on your vehicle. However, by using our services you acknowledge that detailing involves working with surfaces that may already be worn, fragile, or previously repaired.
• Gordy’s Grooming will not be held responsible for damage or loss caused by circumstances outside our control, including (but not limited to) pre-existing wear and tear, poor prior repairs, mechanical/electrical faults, ageing materials, manufacturer defects, or hidden damage.
• Gordy’s Grooming is not liable for loss or damage to any personal items left in the vehicle (including items in the boot, glovebox, door pockets, under seats, or attached accessories).
• If you believe damage has occurred due to our work, you must notify us before leaving the premises (or within 24 hours of pick-up where pick-up/drop-off is used), with photos where possible.
9) Satisfaction and Rectification
• If you are not satisfied, please contact us promptly so we can review and, where appropriate, rectify concerns.
• We may offer a re-groom or partial re-groom where reasonable. Refunds are not guaranteed and will be assessed based on the issue and service scope.
10) Photos and Marketing
• We may take before-and-after photos for quality control and training purposes.
• We will not post identifiable information (e.g., number plates or personal details).
• If you do not want your vehicle used in marketing images, please tell us at drop-off or in writing.
11) Privacy
We collect personal information (name, contact details, booking details) only for booking, service delivery and invoicing. We will not sell your information and will store it securely. You can request access or correction of your information.
12) Consumer Rights (New Zealand)
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, where they apply. If you are using our services for business purposes, different rules may apply.
13) General
• We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of booking will apply.
• If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remainder will continue to apply.
• Governing law: New Zealand.
